Last night I supported the fantastic north Yorkshire band, Hope & Social! They are a funky, experimental jazz group who wear blue jackets and are currently on tour. They stopped off at the Nuffield Theatre in Lancaster and, being a student at Lancaster, I was asked to support them.
It was just a quick set, but to a great audience who tolerated me playing a few of my own songs and trialling out a few tunes which are to go on my upcoming album! It was on a much bigger stage than usual and the lights made it really hot on stage, so I don’t know how Hope&Social managed with their blue jackets on as well!
Also supporting was Lancaster PhD student and amazing blues musician, Fumina. Having just got back from her hometown of Tokyo, Fumina raised the roof with her astonishing vocals and wicked guitar skills – she’s one to watch and will no doubt be playing on the campus bar circuit as well as in city venues in the near future.
